France’s trade deficit in goods fell sharply in March, falling to 8.4 billion euros, “its least degraded level for more than a year and a half”, customs said on Tuesday.
The trade deficit for February has for its part been revised down sharply compared to previous estimates, to 9.9 billion euros instead of 11 billion euros.
In March, France’s trade balance “continued to improve markedly, by +1.5 billion euros after +2.4 billion in February, to stand at -8.4 billion euros, its level the least degraded for more than a year and a half”, note the customs.
Over twelve rolling months, the French trade balance “recovers” to reach 159.7 billion euros.
“In March, all the major components of France’s trade balance improved,” noted customs, noting in particular that “the energy balance continued to improve under the effect of the drop in energy imports, energy exports remaining stable this month”.
In total, imports continued to decline “to reach 59.3 billion euros”, while “at the same time, exports are up and stand at 50.9 billion euros”, is- He specifies.
For its part, the Banque de France reported on Tuesday that in March the current account deficit had become “a surplus of 1.4 billion euros, an improvement of almost 3 billion compared to February”.
