Frenkie de Jong agreed to move to “Manchester United” from Barcelona.
After weeks of hesitation, the 25-year-old midfielder has given the go-ahead for the transfer, according to The Athletic.
The midfielder’s entourage was waiting for offers from other European top clubs, such as Bayern, PSG or Manchester City, but the amount of 80 million euros requested by Barca scared off potential applicants.
Now Manchester United considers the implementation of the transfer of De Jong a matter of time. Until the clubs can agree on the amount of the transfer – “Barcelona” requires 80 million euros in fixed payments. Earlier it was reported that Manchester United offered for Frankie 60 + 20 million euros.
The Catalan club have warned Manchester United that they want to close negotiations for De Jong by June 30.
Frankie insisted for a long time that he wanted to stay at Barcelona. Now he is annoyed, because the blue garnets did not hide their willingness to sell him. Distrust on the part of the Catalan club forced de Jong to change his position and agree to a transfer to United. The player’s decision was also influenced by a good relationship with Manchester United coach Eric ten Hag, with whom they worked together at Ajax.
