LOS ANGELES — Freddie Freeman had a home run and a double among his four hits on his 34th birthday, and the Los Angeles Dodgers routed the San Diego Padres 11-2 on Tuesday.

Will Smith hit a three-run homer for the Dodgers, who reduced their “magic number” of games to win the NL West to five.

Freeman impressed during his No. 5 jersey night at Dodger Stadium. He scored a season-high four runs in front of thousands of fans wearing commemorative clothing.

He singled and scored in the first inning and added a two-run homer in the third. In the fourth, he singled once more and scored once more.

And in the eighth, he hit his 55th double, a franchise record, to add four hits in a single game for the sixth time this season.

Lance Lynn (11-11) pitched seven innings of five-hit ball.

Michael Wacha (11-4) suffered his second consecutive setback.

For the Padres, the Dominicans Fernando Tatis 4-2 with one run scored and one RBI, Juan Soto 4-1 with one run scored, Manny Machado 4-1, Egui Rosario 3-0.

For the Dodgers, Venezuelan David Peralta went 0 for 3 with an RBI. Dominican Amed Rosario 1-0. Puerto Rican Kiké Hernández 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
