A party was to be held in a forest in Belfaux, Fribourg, on Pentecost Saturday. However, since the operators did not have a permit for the festival, the police intervened shortly before nine in the evening. Kapo Freiburg ended the illegal event with 15 patrols deployed. This was before the party could even really get started: at the time of the intervention there were only around 20 party guests on site. The majority of the participants were still arriving, the police say. However, various items were confiscated during the police operation: “It was found on site that an extensive infrastructure with a mixer, loudspeakers and drinks bar had been set up,” it says.

Zero tolerance of the police

According to the police, the organizers of the party, who could be found quickly, were cooperative: “The intervention was quiet and in good conversation with the people present,” said the kapo. The facilities were dismantled by the party troop under the supervision of the police, and the original condition of the place has now been restored. The organizers were reported. For Kapo Freiburg it is clear: “Such wild parties will not be tolerated on our territory.”

Second case within days

Anyone who has information about such events or observes the organization of another illegal party is asked to report this to the cantonal police at any time. The Freiburg police seem to be on the alert at the moment: It’s the second party within a few days that should have taken place illegally on Freiburg soil. Early on Thursday morning, May 27, the police had to go to a festival in Montagny-les-Monts in the Broye district. There the party was already in full swing when the patrols arrived – around 3000 visitors were expected for the entire rave.

The eviction was less peaceful than it is currently in Belfaux: stones and bottles were thrown at the police during the attempted negotiations. Thanks to a coordinated operation that lasted until Friday afternoon, the party finally came to an end.
