Alexis and Félix Lebrun are already assured of a medal at the French Championships which take place in Montpellier until Sunday. In two flawless victories (3-0) this Friday in doubles, they qualified for the semi-finals, where they will face (1:40 p.m. Saturday, live on L’Équipe live and the FFTT Youtube channel) Alexandre Cassin and Flavien Coton. The other semi-final will pit Florian Bourrassaud and Esteban Dorr against the Antoine Hachard-Stéphane Ouaiche duo.

They will also be there in the round of 16 in singles. Félix Lebrun needed a set to get up to speed against Alexis Kouraichi (4-1 victory), while his elder brother dominated, not without being seriously upset (4-1; 11-2, 9-11, 11-9, 11-7, 12-10), the young hope of French ping Flavien Coton (U15 world champion in 2022, 16 years old in two weeks).

Simon Gauzy did not tremble against Hugo Deschamps either (4-0 victory). Note, however, the elimination of the World team silver medalist, Jules Rolland, as soon as he entered the singles competition, by Rémi Betelu (4-1). Lilian Bardet, the 5th man of the Blues, was forced to retire due to injury, while leading 8-4 against Vincent Picard.

Saturday, in the round of 16, Félix Lebrun will meet Quentin Robinot (10 a.m.), Simon Gauzy the local Esteban Dorr (10:50 a.m.), and Alexis Lebrun Grégoire Jean (12:30 p.m.).

The favorites respond

No missteps for the favorites among the bronze medalists of the World Team Championships, as Prithika Pavade, Camille and Charlotte Lutz, and Audrey Zarif, defending champion, all won their first match 4-0. The first will face Nolwenn Fort in 8th (Saturday, 10 a.m.), the second Océane Guisnel (10:50 a.m.), the third Laura Pfefer (12:30 p.m.), the fourth Lucie Gauthier (12:30 p.m.). Jianan Yuan, the French n°1, skipped the competition which she has already won six times, to take a break between two WTT tournaments.

In doubles, the No. 1 pair (Océane Guisnel-Stéphanie Loeuillette) was however eliminated in the quarter-finals by Yu-Hua Liu and Claire Picard, who will face Lucie Mobarek and Anaïs Salpin in the semi-finals. The other semi-final will pit Nolwenn Fort and Lucie Gauthier against the pair Pauline Chasselin-Isa Cok.
