Frenchman Christophe Laporte first leader of Paris-Nice

The Jumbo team struck from the first stage of Paris-Nice, Sunday March 6 in Mantes-la-Ville (Yvelines), where Frenchman Christophe Laporte won in front of two of his teammates. Laporte preceded on the line the Slovenian Primoz Roglic and the Belgian Wout van Aert who did not challenge him for victory. The Frenchman, recruited in the off-season, donned the first yellow jersey in this eight-stage long race. On Monday, the second stage heads due south across the Beauce plain to connect Auffargis (Yvelines) to Orléans on a 159.2 kilometer course, flat and exposed to the wind.
