From the ORF star to Herbert Kickl’s whipper

The former Romy prizewinner Marie Christine Giuliani had a leading role at the FPÖ’s start of the year. What is the ex-“bingo” woman doing at Blau?

Vera Russwurm caused a sometimes heated debate last week, far beyond the borders of Lower Austria: Because the prominent ORF-moderator had moderated the election campaign start of the ÖVP there, it rained criticism, a red foundation board even spoke out in favor of an external moderation ban for ORF celebrities. In response to the criticism, it was sometimes stated that Russwurm was not employed by ORF and, moreover, only worked in the entertainment sector.

And not only the ÖVP relies on well-known TV faces, in the FPÖ a former TV star has recently even played an exposed role: At the FPÖ New Year’s kick-off in Wiener Neustadt last weekend, Marie Christine Giuliani, the former presenter of “Bingo”, ” Million wheel” and other far-reaching shows, the whip for party leaders Herbert Kickl, and vehemently: “He is the rock in the surf of Austrian domestic politics, he is the one we want as Federal Chancellor, I want to hear that now!” cried the direct previous speaker Kickls to the blue crowd. The answer was unequivocal: “Herbert, Herbert, Herbert!” Giuliani: “That’s right!”
