Fuel Price: Fuel prices will go up in the UAE

Abu Dhabi: Fuel prices will rise in the UAE in March. The Fuel Pricing Committee in the UAE announced the new rates on Monday. From March 1, the price of Super 98 petrol will be AED 3.23 per liter. It was 2.94 dirhams last month.

Special 95 petrol will cost 3.12 dirhams a liter from March. It was 2.82 dirhams in February. The new rate for E-Plus petrol is AED 3.05 per liter. The old rate was 2.75 dirhams. Diesel has been priced at AED 3.19 per liter since March. The old price was 2.88 dirhams. Local prices are determined by a monthly meeting of international oil prices.

Strict action against companies in the UAE for late payment of salaries

Abu Dhabi: Under UAE labor laws, it is mandatory for employers to pay workers on time (Paying Wages on time). Institutions can also face severe penalties for late payment. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization said in a recent statement that it would take action against companies that delay pay.

Institutions with 50 or more employees will face an inspection team from the Ministry 17 days late after the due date. In case of small firms, steps will be taken to prevent the issuance of work permits. Procedures will also be tightened as there are more days to pay salaries.

The main steps in late payment of salary

1. Official warnings will be issued on the third and tenth day after the due date

2. New work permits will be barred: Work permits will be barred 17 days after the due date of payment. Institutions with more than 50 employees will face inspection team from the ministry.

3. Notice will be given to the Public Prosecution to take legal action against the institution if the salary is delayed for more than 30 days after the due date. The move is against companies with 50 to 499 employees. Companies with more than 500 employees will be listed as ‘High Risk’ by the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

4. Work permits of other establishments under the employer which are not paid will be withheld.

5. In case of repeated non-payment of salaries or multiple violations, there will be an inspection by the Ministry. A fine will be imposed and the institution will be relegated to a lower category.

6. Work permits cannot be issued or renewed if the salary is delayed for three consecutive months.

7. If the salary is delayed for more than six months, it will be reported to the Public Prosecution and legal action will be taken. There will be other actions, including the imposition of a fine.
