Fuel Pumps in Lebanon Now Accepting US Dollars: Say Goodbye to Exploitation

news-details-description">

Citizens have recently noticed that some fuel pumps have recently introduced petrol pumps programmed exclusively in US dollars, not in Lebanese pounds.

Simply put, when a citizen comes to the station, he tells the worker there that he wants to fill up with $10 in petrol. Then, with the push of a button, number 10 is registered on the machine, and gasoline is filled with dollars.

And to indicate here is that this machine will be programmed at the price of the dollar that the Ministry of Energy sets for the stations, and most of them currently deal at a price of 94,500 Lebanese pounds.

In practice, this step might contribute to a decline in the process of exploitation of citizens who want to fill up gasoline with dollars. Earlier, stations were pricing the dollar for mobilization according to their own numbers, while not adhering to the Ministry of Energy’s pricing. As for now, these machines will make prices fixed and subject to control, and thus the citizen will be free from exploitation at the price of the dollar and the amount of gasoline that he gets.
