“The objective of falling below 3% deficit in 2027” is retained. The government is looking for savings after the public deficit skidded to 5.5% of GDP in 2023, according to INSEE, or 15.8 billion euros more than the government’s forecasts. Ten billion euros in cuts have already been made in mid-February on the 2024 budget, but additional savings will be found this year, warned the Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire. “We are maintaining the objective of falling below 3% in 2027. (…) We will present the trajectory to achieve this in mid-April”he detailed.
“Get out of the 35-hour shackles”.
