The Ministry of Communications (MCom) announced the construction of three new infoways in the North of Brazil, using the resources raised from the 5G auction. Infovias are fiber optic networks that bring high-speed internet to remote and isolated areas, benefiting the local population and socioeconomic development.
According to the Minister of Communications, Juscelino Filho, the Monitoring Group for the Implementation of Solutions for Interference Problems in the 3,625 to 3,700 MHz band (Gaispi) approved the request for the construction of broadband infoways in the Northern Region of the country, expanding access of the local population and institutions to the Internet.
This information was released during INOVAtic Pará, an event that brought together global Information and Communication Technology (ICT) companies; telecommunications operators; internet providers; managers and formulators of public technology and innovation policies; government authorities and more institutions.
“The objective of the Ministry of Communications is to connect all Brazilians, anywhere in the territory, and InovaTIC was an opportunity to present to actors from different sectors the efforts of MCom and the Federal Government seeking to achieve this objective of guaranteeing the digital inclusion of Brazilian population”, explained Linhares.
