Galaxy Z Fold 8 Sees Sales Boost in South Korea
In South Korea, Samsung experienced a 20 percent sales increase for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 during the week of October 23-29 compared to the previous week, a bump linked to the launch of Apple’s iPhone Duo, droid-life.com reported.
Quality Control Concerns Drive Buyers to Samsung Foldables
While the Galaxy Z Fold 8 represents the eighth generation of foldable devices for Android users, Apple customers are entering new territory with the iPhone Duo. Sammobile.com reported that the sales surge is attributed to quality control controversies surrounding Apple’s foldable device. After videos and reports surfaced showing instances of the iPhone Duo breaking, prospective buyers reportedly chose to purchase the Galaxy Z Fold 8 instead.
Before this recent bump, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 already recorded over 1.44 million pre-orders during its first week in South Korea, according to sammobile.com. Samsung also noted strong demand in European markets, where sales for the Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra rose 45 percent compared to the previous year, according to Yahoo Tech.

Samsung Extends Retail Promotions and Trade-In Bonuses
To capitalize on the market momentum, Samsung extended several retail promotions, including the New Galaxy AI Subscription Club. The program provides a guaranteed residual value of up to 50 percent for a one-year plan, 40 percent for a two-year plan, and 25 percent for a three-year plan upon device return, alongside discounts on Samsung Care and accessories, sammobile.com reported. Customers using Mintit ATMs for trade-ins throughout November can receive up to an extra 100,000 KRW on top of standard valuations.
Yahoo Tech reported a 260 percent increase in Google search interest for Samsung foldables between September 6 and 12, coinciding with the announcement of the iPhone Duo. Promotional offers for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 include doubled storage on the 512GB model and trade-in discounts up to $800, bringing the 1TB configuration down to $1,299.
