In a revealing interview, Atari tells how winning the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Hallelujah” gave her the title of “National Mami”. Apart from that, Atari stated in an interview for the “Meeting” program that although many artists and musicians in the industry are careful not to express their political position in public, the veteran singer was never ashamed to reveal her opinions.
“I have never been wary of political statements,” the singer revealed and even emphasized that for her the song “I have no other country” was a protest song against the Lebanon war, while the song “September” presented a clear statement against the Sabra massacre and planting. “It’s not that I didn’t say political statements, people just didn’t believe me. It’s all about stereotypes,” Atari admitted to Cuban.

Cuban and Atari went back to the days of the legal reform, which engaged many in the political, security system and, of course, the Israeli public. In the interview, Atari stated that she refuses to call that move by the right-wing government “reform” and defines it as a coup.
“I don’t understand how a very respectable faction of the Israeli people can think it’s okay to assassinate the Declaration of Independence, can think it’s okay to kick democracy, that it’s okay to kick freedom of expression, that it’s okay to kick equality. I didn’t understand how people could think it was okay, and until now I don’t understand it.’
