Gareca and Anibal Torres | Premier Torres on Gareca’s non-renewal: “If he doesn’t want to stay, we’re not going to force him” | RMMD | SPORT-TOTAL

the farewell of Ricardo Gareca from peruvian national team it’s official. The Argentine coach stopped directing the ‘Blanquirroja’ and for the President of the Council of Ministers, Aníbal Torres, there are Peruvian technical directors who could take on the challenge of being the new managers of the Peruvian bench.

“For us, sport is of extraordinary importance, that is why we are promoting the exercise of the different sports disciplines from the schools. Beyond that, I have an opinion like, surely, all Peruvians have about what happened with coach Gareca and, in that sense, I think that Professor Gareca is an extraordinary coach, he has taken us to a World Cup and almost leads a second in a row, without a doubt a professional who knows his trade well. But, he is not the only one, there are even very capable national technicians who can hold that position”said the Premier in statements to Radio Ovación.

Aníbal Torres maintained that his comment was not intended to “Detract from what Gareca has done. Here we have to eradicate that inferiority complex that only a foreigner can be very good. If Mr. Gareca does not want to remain in Peru, we are not going to force him either. I don’t know what happened in that negotiation, however if Mr. Lozano agreed to meet with Gareca, he should have done it. You always have to be consistent with what you say.”

The head of the cabinet continued with his position regarding the non-renewal of the ‘Tiger’: “I suggest to the people involved in this matter that they act with a little more responsibility, transparency, respecting the public opinion that they always supported and, above all, tell them that not everything in life is about money. Professor Gareca is being paid very well and, if any readjustment has to take place, given the way things are around the world, there is no reason to get angry either. I understand that Mr. Lozano has made a mistake, but remind Professor Gareca that an entire country loves him here, he esteems him as the coach of our National Team and that he overcomes those small differences that, apparently, are economic ”.

On the other hand, Torres expressed himself regarding the president of the FPF: “If Mr. Agustín Lozano was sanctioned, it is because there was evidence, then how does he continue to hold office? Here the one who manages and administers public resources has to be held accountable, but I don’t know what is happening to us because I see that the vast majority supports this man, something is not right. I have just arrived in Lima and tomorrow I will speak with the Minister of Education to see if something can be done about this matter.
