A gas leak occurred in a restaurant on Monday morning in San Bernardino (GR), which led to an explosion. There were no injuries. The material damage amounted to several tens of thousands of francs.
Shortly before 11:00 a.m., a restaurant employee wanted to boil some water with a gas stove. Gas escaped and ignited, causing an explosion, cantonal police said on Tuesday.
The employee and a customer were in the restaurant. None were injured. The firefighters, a gas specialist and a statics engineer intervened. The area around the building, including the main street, was sealed off until around 2:30 p.m. An investigation has been opened to determine the exact sequence of events leading up to the explosion.
