According to the health ministry in the Gaza Strip, run by the extremist Hamas, on Monday, 304 people have been killed by Israeli attacks in the past 24 hours. The total number of deaths since the start of the latest Gaza war has risen to 8,306, said ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Kudra.

Among them are 3,457 children and 2,136 women. Around 1,950 people are still missing under the rubble. The number of injured is 21,048. The numbers cannot currently be independently verified.

Red Cross reaches hospital

On Monday, a Red Cross aid convoy reached the overcrowded Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip for the first time since the outbreak of the war between the militant Islamist Hamas and Israel.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) trucks brought essential medical supplies for emergency rooms and operating rooms. “This is the first aid convoy to reach the Nasser Hospital complex via the Red Cross,” said hospital director Dr. Nahed Abu Taemma.

Doctors at the hospital say that the facility not only houses many injured people, but also serves as emergency shelter for around 20,000 civilians who have no other place to go – just like other hospitals.

Tanks advance

In response to the Hamas attack, Israel sealed off the Gaza Strip, launched massive air strikes on the Palestinian territory and announced a ground offensive. The first tanks have already entered the Gaza Strip.
