Gaza into complete darkness; Operation of generators in hospitals will also stop soon

Gaza: Gaza’s Power Authority says that following Israel cut off electricity supply, the only power plant in Gaza will run out of fuel within hours.

About 2.3 million people live in Gaza, one of the most densely populated areas in the world. Tafar Melham, chairman of the Palestinian Energy Authority, announced on Voice of Palestine radio that the power plant was being shut down at noon.

“The Gaza Strip has been plunged into complete darkness. It will no longer be possible to continue all basic services that depend on electricity. The Gaza authorities said in a statement that the fuel supply from the Rafah Gate has been cut off, making it impossible to operate the generators even partially.

The statement said it was the worst crime once morest unarmed poor people in modern history.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Mai Alkaila announced that the fuel to run the generators in hospitals in the Gaza Strip would run out by Thursday and the situation in the hospitals would worsen.

Israel imposed a total blockade on Gaza in response to the infiltration by Hamas. Following this, electricity supply was cut last Monday. Israel also cut off the supply of food, water and gas.
