The Prosecutor’s Office will formalize the general director of the Investigative Police (PDI), Sergio Muñoz, after being linked to the so-called Audios Case that involves the lawyer Luis Hermosilla.
According to the Public Ministry, after investigations carried out on Luis Hermosilla’s cell phone, facts constituting crimes that directly involved the general director of the PDI were revealed.
Specifically, Muñoz is accused of revealing information in a case declared secret.
In this context, this Thursday, March 14, the Carabineros raided the home and office of the high command.
Sergio Muñoz’s formalization hearing will take place next Tuesday, March 19 at 9:00 a.m.
It should be remembered that Luis Hermosilla was formalized for the crimes of bribery and bribery, after a leaked audio revealed a conversation with the lawyer Leonarda Villalobos and the businessman Daniel Sauer talking about the payment of bribes to the officials of the SII and the CMF with the purpose of obtaining privileged information for the businessman, whose company was being investigated by both entities.

Through a statement, the Investigative Police (PDI) indicated that it respects the procedures carried out by the Public Ministry and affirmed that it will “cooperate” to clarify the facts.
“The institution and the general director respect and abide by the rule of law, which is why it will cooperate with the investigation with the aim of judicially clarifying the facts,” he stated.
“As a permanent institution of the State of Chile, we reaffirm our commitment to public safety and the country,” he concluded.
