George Russell “Williams F1’s difficult car experience has helped”[F1-Gate .com]

George Russell says the experience of a “very difficult car” with the Williams F1 team could give Lewis Hamilton an edge in the current Mercedes F1 struggle.

This year, George Russell has moved from the low-ranking Williams F1 to the champion team Mercedes F1, but it’s never been the season he dreamed of.

Instead of competing for race wins and world champions, Mercedes F1 is struggling to eradicate the porpoising problem while aiming for points.

However, in all the troubles, George Russell has accumulated points and is the only driver to finish all four Grand Prix in the top five.

Mercedes F1 teammate Lewis Hamilton hasn’t even scored points in every race and finished 13th in the previous race at the Emilia Romagna GP.

This raises the question of why George Russell seems to be pulling more out of the Mercedes F1 car than Lewis Hamilton.

“Maybe it’s a very difficult car driving struggle at Williams that has helped in a few small ways,” said George Russell, according to GP Fans.

“Q1 and Q2 are very important to us now. It was very easy with the previous Mercedes and it was almost a build-up session to prepare for Q3.”

However, George Russell believes Lewis Hamilton will make up for it.

“Lewis will be back incredibly powerful,” said George Russell.

“I have no doubt about it and he will definitely push me all the time.”

George Russell has so far finished third in the Australian Grand Prix with one podium result in terms of his own results this season.

George Russell is currently fourth in the drivers’ championship with 49 points, 21 points ahead of Lewis Hamilton.

“From a result perspective, we’re definitely making the most of it, and in these first four races things have definitely rolled towards us,” said George Russell.

“I’m confident that it gives me confidence and gives the team the confidence that we’ll be there to get more points when the car improves.”

“But as I said before the weekend, we can’t maintain this level of results without improving the pace of the car.”

Mercedes will try various solutions at the Miami GP this weekend with the aim of solving the bouncing problem and unleashing the pace from the W13.

“We have found some directions for improving the car. We hope to experiment in Miami to correlate these simulations and see the development path for future races,” said the Mercedes F1 team. Representative Toto Wolff said.
