Pink October is an annual communication campaign intended to raise awareness among women about breast cancer screening and to raise funds for research.
The symbol of this event is the pink ribbon.
Many Upper Pyrenees towns and villages and associations participate in this campaign by offering walks, races or other charitable events, the profits of which are mainly and traditionally donated to The League Against Cancer 65 which redistributes to several regional and national research teams and also help patients and their families in the Hauts-Pyrénées financially or offer them supportive care.
In Lourdes, note that the Fortress was adorned with pink light at night throughout the month and that the LOURDES Welcome Letters at the Europe roundabout at the north entrance were also adorned with pink.
The big day of mobilization in Lourdes will be held on Sunday morning, October 29 at the Lake for the traditional walk and run organized by the UAL with the support of the municipality, the Lions and League 65 against cancer. On Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Palais des Congrès, a woman show by Caroline Le Flour entitled “La Chauve smiles” will be given.
