Georges-Louis Bouchez, president of the MR, was the guest at 7:50 this morning on bel RTL. At the microphone of Antonio Solimando, he returned to the riots which affected Brussels, in reaction to the death of the young Nahel, 17, killed by police fire in France.
Some thugs were quite young and did not realize, for some, the seriousness of the facts. The mayor of Brussels, Philippe Close, revealed yesterday that some even thought it was a game.
“I find it totally astonishing that such comments can be made. If these young people think it’s a game, then we will have to seriously talk to their parents. We, what we want, is a principle of breakers pays “You break, you pay. And if it’s not you, it’s your parents. But parents have to be made very responsible”said Georges-Louis Bouchez.

And I’m going to tell you clearly, if it takes 10 years, 20 years to repay, well that’s not my problem. But it still takes a given moment in this society, explain that you don’t break, whatever your life situation. We are in a state of law. If you are the victim of injustice, there are procedures, but for the rest, we does not attack public property. There is nothing that can justify such attitudes. We must stop and we should rather think about empowering parents.”
Does he think that the context also causes social tension? When, in France, we are parked in blocks of buildings, is there not, according to him, a context which favors overflows?
“Today, when you are the son of a farmer on the verge of bankruptcy, do you think you have a good prospect of life? Yet these people do not break. I’m just saying to stop with the culture of excuses. If you have difficulties, the State is there. The neighborhoods we are talking about are the neighborhoods in which we invest the most, in youth centers, in sports facilities, in schools for success. at a given moment, throwing everything off saying: we don’t have any future prospects so we have the right to break, that’s what disempowers and that’s the society we don’t want. solve the problems of discrimination, we must solve the difficulties in employment, but that does not give the right to break”.
