German industrial output rose in February

Germany’s Federal Statistical Office said yesterday that the country’s industrial output rose much more than expected in February, up 2.0 percent from the previous month, attributing the increase in part to the auto industry.
Analysts polled by Archyde.com had expected a slight increase of 0.1 percent.
The bureau revised the figure for January to an increase of 3.7 percent, up from 3.5 percent.
On a yearly basis, industrial output rose 0.6 percent in February.
Production increased in most economic sectors in February, but automobile manufacturing, Germany’s largest industrial sector, accounted for a large part of the increase.
