In the early hours of Wednesday, the unpleasant situation involving the renowned chef was revealed. According to reports, an employee of her home, identified as Lidia Isidra Figueredo, 41 years old and originally from Paraguay, was identified as the main suspect of stealing a sum of $500,000 from a safe located in the residence in the Martínez neighborhood. According to what was reported by judicial and security sources, although the incident took place in April, Figueredo’s arrest took place on Monday. According to the reconstruction carried out by Justice, Martitegui made a trip to the United States from April 13 to 17. It was only a few days after his return that he noticed the missing $500,000 in his safe. The cook did not make the complaint immediately, but instead tried to inquire among his employees without success. The safe was not forced open, so the thief used the key. “He has several people who assist him but the curious thing is that if he is not in the house neither are the employees, therefore whoever stole entered the house without Martitegui’s permission,” explains an investigator.
A few hours after the news spread, the victim decided to speak out about it. Let’s be careful because there are names of people and families in the middle,” he warned.
The chef also mentioned that the money was stolen from a safe he had in his home. According to police sources, a striking detail for Justice was that none of its employees knew where the key to the safe was, which the victim hid among his clothes in her dressing room. Meanwhile, when asked about the security cameras located in his home, they have a system of erasing the tape every 15 days, which complicated the review of the images since no records of the date in question were kept.
At the end of the interview, he described Wednesday as an extremely difficult day, as he relived the anguish of the robbery and faced the public exposure of his private life. When asked about the possibility of recovering the stolen money, he indicated that, according to investigators, the amount is significant enough to be detected if it is spent, and any transaction would be recorded.
