A new report by the Israeli NGO Monitor lists 12 organizations operating in the Palestinian territories that are funded by Germany. Among these, however, there are six that the Israeli Ministry of Defense already classified as “terrorist organizations” in October 2021, because they indirectly finance terrorist organizations such as the PFLP or Hamas – writes a picture.

While Switzerland terminated its cooperation with two Palestinian NGOs after the terrorist attack on Israel, Germany continues to finance organizations that Israel classifies as supporters of terrorism. According to NGO Monitor, Germany is one of the least transparent governments in Europe when it comes to the funding of non-governmental organizations.

According to the German Development Ministry, they are working to end the “ongoing cooperation” with these organizations as quickly as possible.

According to NGO Monitor, Berlin also specifically funds organizations that celebrated the attack on Israel and called Hamas terror “resistance”. Hanan Ashrawi, the founder of the Palestine Initiative (MIFTAH), for example, called the slaughter, rape and beheading of Israeli children by Hamas an “incompetence”. According to the NGO Monitor, MIFTAH also received 61 thousand dollars (approx. 56,700 euros) from Germany.

Al-Haq is also one of six organizations designated as terrorists by Israel since 2021. On the day of the massacre, October 7, Aseel Al-Bajeh, Al-Haq’s legal affairs associate at the time, wrote on X: “Leave our land, get out of our sight,” quoting Ismail Haniyeh, a Hamas leader. threats against Israel. According to the NGO Monitor, the German organization Weltfriedensdienst, which is also supported by tax money, has had a joint project with Al-Haq since 2021.

The Weltfriedensdienst confirmed to Bild that it cooperated with Al-Haq in 2022 and 2023, as well as BADIL and Defense for Children International Palestine. Israel also classifies the latter as a terrorist organization. And BADIL published a report in December in which it openly denies Israel’s right to exist.

After the German Development Ministry briefly interrupted and reviewed its aid to the Palestinian territories in October, it resumed cooperation on December 13, as “no abuse was found,” recalls Bild.
