Germany calls for new talks on transatlantic trade deal

FRANKFURT, March 20 (Archyde.com) – Germany’s economy minister has called for talks on a free trade deal between the European Union and the United States to resume, a newspaper reported on Sunday, to revive discussions interrupted by former President Donald Trump. .

The Republican ended negotiations on the so-called Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) and instead insisted on a series of trade conflicts with the EU.

“We should resume negotiations on a transatlantic free trade agreement. Especially now, with the (Ukrainian) crisis, it becomes clear how important free trade is with partners around the world who share our values,” Christian Lindner told Handelsblatt. German Finance Minister.

It is not clear to what extent there is European support for these talks in Europe. In recent years, some representatives have spoken out in favor of resumption, while others have been more cautious.
