Herbert Kasser, Secretary General in the Climate Ministry and deputy chairman of the Asfinag supervisory board, is resigning from his supervisory mandate at the state-owned highway holding company with immediate effect and is applying for the position of chief financial officer at Asfinag. The position of construction director is also currently advertised.
Kasser has been a member of the supervisory board of the Autobahn and Expressway Company since 2002, with interruptions. Kathrin Renz, section head in the Climate Ministry and also a member of the Asfinag supervisory board, will abstain from voting in the decision on the CFO, Climate Minister Leonore Gewessler (Greens) announced in a broadcast today. In May of the previous year, two supervisory board positions at the state holding company were filled; they were ex-Verbund boss Wolfgang Anzengruber and Kathrin Renz.
In 2022, Asfinag and its 3,000 employees generated a surplus of 851 million euros – the second-best result since its inception; a year earlier it was 755 million euros. Liabilities were reduced by 293 million euros to 10.46 billion euros, and 1.1 billion euros were invested in the high-level road network. The dividend for the state was 235 million euros.
