(Ecofin Agency) – In Ghana, the Agricultural Insurance Fund (AIF) is expected to be deployed by September 2024. The announcement was made by Michael Andoh, Acting Insurance Commissioner, on November 3 during the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the National Insurance Commission (NIC) and Policy Link, an organization funded by USAID.
In Ghana, agricultural insurance has been operational since 2011 thanks to the Ghana Agricultural Insurance Pool (GAIP), which launched weather insurance for maize in May of the same year.
