The club Gymnastics and Fencing La Plata began this morning with the tributes to Dr. René Favaloro, his illustrious fan, on the 100th anniversary of his birth, with the inauguration of two mosaics made by Maru Pellati from the Frente de Aristas Triperos.
The inauguration of the mural, made in mosaic, took place in the Bosquecito, in front of the headquarters of the Dr. René Favaloro elementary school at 58 and 123 street in Berisso.
Subsequently, students and directors of the educational establishment, together with authorities of the institution, held an act at the school.
The tributes will continue on Saturday with the inauguration of the mosaic/mural with the image of a doctor from La Plata in the Juan Carmelo Zerillo stadium, a few meters from the members’ entrance, in front of the Memorial that remembers him on Paseo del Bosque.
In addition, on Sunday Gimnasia will take to the field in the match against Boca wearing a shirt that will have a stamped image of Favaloro and will also display a banner with the phrase: “Our Hero is Real.”
Favaloro was closely linked to Gymnastics throughout his life: he was a supporter, partner, athlete (he played basketball), leader and permanent collaborator of the institution, especially during very difficult moments in the club’s history.
In communion with the current management, the Architecture commission of the Estadio del Bosque and the Frente de Artistas Triperos joined the tribute activities and its members are already working on the announcement of an artistic project that will be inaugurated when the centenary of the stadium is celebrated.
