Indian players in the list
Dubai : The names of all the contestants participating in the Global Chess League (GCL) have been announced. World class players including Viswanathan Anand, Ding Liren and Magnus Carlsen will compete in the first GCL. Indian players D. Gukesh, Arjun Erigazi, Vidit Gujarati, R. Pragnananda, Nihal Sarin, Ronak Sadhwani, Koneru Hampi, Harika Dronavalli and others will also reach the championship.
The matches will be held at the Dubai Chess and Culture Club from 21st to 2nd July next month. The Global Chess League is a joint venture between Tech Mahindra and FIDE, the international chess organization. The competition is organized in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council. The final is on July 2. Global Chess League Board Chairperson Jagadish Mitra said that he is happy to organize the tournament with the participation of top players.
