Global climate strike on September 15: Future for all – act now!

“Climate-friendly politics instead of profits for large corporations and the rich”

Vienna (OTS) Record heat in southern Europe, flooding in central Europe, unprecedented warming of the Atlantic and a dramatic retreat in Antarctic ice. The weather extremes are increasing worldwide, the climate crisis is worsening at an unprecedented rate.

On September 15th, climate protectors worldwide are therefore calling for the next climate strike. In Austria, the plans klimaprotest.at Networked climate movement* under the motto “Future for everyone – act now!” Demonstrations, campaigns and rallies – the locations of Vienna, Graz and Linz are currently fixed.

“Politicians promise ambitious climate targets, but effective measures and concrete plans are a long time coming. We say an end to fake climate protection and blockade attitudes! Instead of the profits of the big corporations and the rich, we have to focus on climate-friendly politics – for the good of all!” says the joint appeal, among other things.

Among other things, the organizers are calling for a reduction in energy consumption, a consistent energy transition and the phasing out of fossil fuels, as well as global solidarity and cooperation. “It is time to redefine prosperity, build a caring economy, and discourage behavior that is harmful to the environment and climate. Society and nature must be at the center of change, not the profits of the powerful. The clock is ticking – we all need to bring about the transformation now!”
