When you head into BG3’s Underworld, it’s hard to imagine the area will be that big. You will also come across a new people, the Myconids, and with this encounter, you will have a rather difficult choice to make!

Where to find Glut and Spaw in Baldur’s Gate 3?
Before looking at the choice, we still have to find the location of these two characters in Baldur’s Gate 3! For that, you will have to go to the Netherworld as we told you in the introduction to this article on Glut and Spaw.
Once there, simply go to the very north of the area. This is where you will be able to find the village where the Myconids have taken refuge. To help you find this location easily, we have indicated it to you on the map below.
Once you get to that level, you’ll meet Spaw, Glut, and even a Mind Flayer who will be friendly to you. You can simply relax in this haven of peace. But behind all this hides a big problem!
Indeed, Glut will tell you that his people are the target of the Duergar and that the latter do not hesitate to massacre them, which explains the many bodies of Myconides that you will come across before arriving at the village. He then wants revenge!
Venger Glut of the Duergar
You will then have the choice of siding with the Myconids, being neutral, or even siding with Nere and the Duergar. For the remainder of this article, we’ll assume that you chose to help Glut seek revenge against those who wronged his people.
More surprisingly, while the majority of NPCs would have wisely expected you to do all the work, Glut doesn’t. Indeed, he decides to accompany you for the rest of your adventures in order to participate himself in the fall of the Duergars.
The idea will therefore be to storm the camp of the latter who will immediately attack you when they see Grut. During this fight, you will have to make sure that the latter survives because at the end, it will evolve and become even more powerful in combat!
Who to choose between Glut and Spaw?
We could tell ourselves that all is well that ends well, except that not really. Indeed, following this transformation, Glut reveals the rest of its plan to you and this consists simply of overthrow the monarch currently in place among the Myconids, Spaw!
If you refuse, then you will have to kill Glut. But then, which choice to choose? If you side with Glut, you will have to decimate the entire colonywhich is still quite annoying given that some members are very friendly.
If you decide not to follow Glut in his plans, he will turn against you. Once you kill him, you can return to the village where to thank you, Spaw will give you access to a room filled with loot. It is therefore towards this second option that we lean.
Choose not to choose and get a temporary companion
Finally, there is a third option, that of making Glut believe that you are going to help him gain power, when in fact, you absolutely do not intend to do so! The only condition for this to work, it’s quite logical not to approach the village.
As long as you have promised Glut to help him, he will remain in your team and can help you in all your exploration of the depths. Just be aware that the limit to this technique is that he will no longer accompany you if you leave the area.
However, the Deepholms being quite huge and full of fights and side quests, it can be a good solution to be able to count on a temporary ally, while making the decision not to intervene in a potential civil war.
