It is noted that the incident happened at noon on Friday on Ikarias Street, when police officers on routine patrol saw a couple fighting at the entrance of an apartment building. Then, the woman shouted “help” and ran towards them.
They went to arrest the man and then he ran and barricaded himself in his house, which was on the fourth floor of an apartment building. Subsequently, a prosecutor’s order was issued and OPKE members with the Fire Department went to the scene.

Information states that the man was known to the authorities for robbery, drugs and dishonesty and for an earlier case he had to appear twice a month at the police station, specifically on the first of the month and on the 16th day.
He is also allegedly involved in a hit-and-run accident that took place yesterday, Thursday, April 11.

“Today at 16:05 OPKE police officers passing by, during their patrol from the street of Glyfada, they heard shouting and approached in order to carry out an inspection. There they were informed by neighbors that inside an apartment building, a man was physically assaulting a woman.
They immediately approached the apartment building, where they went up to the 4th floor and in sight of the police the man entered an apartment and locked himself, while the injured woman was taken to a safe place.
At the same time, under the coordination and guidance of the Coordinating Operations Center, other police forces, as well as an ambulance station, fire brigade and a negotiator, went to the scene.
The police forces were deployed around the perimeter, in order for a negotiation operation to take place, securing the area.
Following a Prosecutor’s order and while the man was unresponsive, the police forces entered the apartment, where they found the man dead, with a gunshot wound.
