God of War: Christopher Judge refuses to dub Kratos’ younger version

In recent days, rumors have emerged of a possible remastered version of the first God of War trilogy being released by Sony soon. So far, none of this has been confirmed, but the recent release of the Valhalla DLC seems to have confirmed that there is a desire for Santa Monica to return to Kratos’ adventures in Ancient Greece.

Even though a remake of the first games could be in the studio’s plans, Christopher Judge, the actor who has done the motion captures and voice of Kratos since 2018’s God of War, has no interest in voicing the younger version of Kratos’ son. Zeus.

In an interview on the AbdBay YouTube channel, Judge revealed that he didn’t accept a recent offer to voice a younger Kratos. According to him, the refusal is due to the respect he has for the work of Terrence C. Carson, who provided the character’s original voice during the games in Greece.

While the actor’s speech could be a clue that remakes of the original games are in development, it likely refers to the Valhalla DLC. Anyone who played the expansion knows that, at the end of it, we see the current Kratos meeting his younger self sitting on the throne of the God of War.

Despite the encounter, only the current Kratos, voiced by Judge, has lines of dialogue, while the younger version remains silent. Apparently, Santa Monica planned to create a conversation between the two versions, but the actor’s refusal ended up changing the studio’s plans.

In fact, some time ago they offered me something and I refused, because they wanted me to equal the voice of that character. [Kratos Jovem] and I said: definitely not.

The actor complements his statement by saying that the industry does not tend to give much value to actors, and that it is important for him to continue celebrating original dubbing.

Will we see remakes of the first God of War games?
