Al-Marsad newspaper – Agencies: Hopes are high with the development of scientific research to produce a drug specifically for one of the most common cancers among men, which is prostate cancer.
The UK’s NHS will become the first healthcare provider to offer darulutamide to patients whose prostate cancer has spread to other parts of their body.
According to the British newspaper “Daily Mail”, drug trials have shown that the chances of living longer increase by a third in men who were previously left untreated.
The drug works by blocking the androgen receptors in cancer cells, which in turn blocks the effect of testosterone, which allows cancer cells to survive and multiply.
The health service said it would start offering the drug to eligible prostate cancer patients within weeks.
