HMD Global became the first major smartphone manufacturer to produce your devices on European soil. The news was confirmed by the company this Tuesday.

According to HMD Global CEO Jean-François Baril, the Nokia XR21 is the first smartphone to be assembled in the Hungarian factory.

We are excited to manufacture the Nokia XR21, our exclusive rugged 5G smartphone, in Europe.

Before HMD opened its factory in Hungary, Europe did not have any large-scale smartphone production units, as companies like Apple and Samsung use factories in China to supply the European market.

The HMD CEO also said that this first European model was designed for enterprise customers, some of whom have requested additional security for their IT partners.

We are dedicated to investing in security, technology and manufacturing processes that make our devices safer and longer lasting.

Jean-François Baril also highlighted that HMD already stores data in Europe, and this has been happening since 2019.

It is worth remembering that both Europe and the United States have tried to take factories out of China. Most have migrated to other Asian countries, but HMD Global was the only one to invest in Europe.

The Nokia XR21 is not yet available in Brazilian stores. To be notified when it arrives.
