This Sunday the sad news of the death of Enrique “Zurdo” Roizner, an Argentine drummer with a long career and member of Kevin Johansen’s band The Nada, was announced. The musician suffered a cerebrovascular accident (CVA) last Thursday and died yesterday at the age of 84, according to those close to the family in Télam.
Through social networks, several musicians, artists and entertainment personalities greeted and paid tribute to “Zurdo” with emotional memories, photos and messages. “Wanting to describe what we experienced with Zurdo is like wanting to take a photo of the full moon. What one appreciates can never be reproduced,” Kevin Johansen wrote in an Instagram post.
“El Zurdo Roizner, a love, of a person and a musician. Loved by anyone who knew him, he is gone. Here are those of us who enjoy that immense being, a Master in every sense, thousands of records and artists we had the pleasure of sharing him. Because he always was and is everyone’s. Thank you Zurdo,” he finally added.
The publication was filled with likes and comments of all kinds, including that of the journalist Sergio Marchi, Paulinho Mosca, Lito Vitale, Fito Páez, Bambi (Tan Biónica), the comedian Tute, Juan Ingaramo, Gabi Moreno, among others.
“What sad news Kevin dear! When I was very young, I met him because he was my mother’s drummer and he always walked around with a smile and his pipe. The years passed and always the same with his good vibes. My condolences to his family and friends,” commented Diego Torres.
Through his Instagram stories, Johansen shared more photos of his friend and colleague and also some other tributes that he found among his followers, friends and other users.
Daniel “Pipi” Piazzolla, Argentine drummer and grandson of Ástor Piazolla, also shared some photos with Roizner and expressed: “Thank you for so much music, musical and life inspiration and for so much good vibes. Always positive! You are family. I’m going to miss you so much! “You were one of the thickest and most professional drummers to leave this country.”
