Göran Fristorp is dead

The artist and the musician Goran Fristorp has passed away, his family says TT.

Fristorp is probably best known as one half of the group Maltaformed together with Claes of Geijerstam. The duo participated in Melodifestivalen 1973 with the contribution The Summer That Never Says Noand landed in fifth place in the Eurovision Song Contest in Luxembourg the same year.

The lyrics of the song are written by the poet Lars Forsellwhich was particularly noted for the stanza “your breasts are like nesting swallows”.

Fristorp competed in Melodifestivalen four more times after participating with Malta, and also released some solo material during the 80s and 90s. Including an album with interpretations of hymns, as well as records with own interpretations of Nils Ferlin and Evert Taube.

As recently as 2018, Fristorp released their last album Göran Fristorp sings Edfeltwhere he interprets the poet Johannes Edfelts poetry.

According to TT, Fristorp was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2020.

Göran Fristorp was 76 years old.
