Moore and his longtime colleague Robert Noyce founded Intel in July 1968.

Moore served as Executive Vice President until 1975 and was named Executive Chairman. and CEO in 1979. He served as CEO until 1987. He resigned as CEO but continued as Executive Chairman.

In 1997 he was appointed President Emeritus. and finally stepped down in 2006.
