Asunción, IP Agency.- The Vice Minister of Transportation, Emiliano Fernández, began his duties at the head of the portfolio by convening transport unions and passenger associations to communicate his mission of carrying out a transformation process in the sector.
Fernández announced that all components of the system will be evaluated: itineraries, rates, bidding systems, permits, financing and sanctions.
The Government’s intention is to modify the contract conditions and regulations with public transport companies and present a single system in coordination with the unions.
In the short term, he pointed out that measures such as the single lane for buses on Route PY03 (former Transchaco) have shown positive results and the measure will be implemented in other parts of the Metropolitan Area.
He held meetings with representatives of the Single Central of Transport Entrepreneurs of the Metropolitan Area of Asunción (Ucetrama), Federation of Transporters of the Metropolitan Area (Fetram), and the Center of Passenger Transport Entrepreneurs of the Metropolitan Area (Cetrapam).
He also met with the Passenger Organization of the Metropolitan Area of Asunción (Opama) and Movimiento Colectivo, in order to establish dialogues with citizen users of the service.
