Governor’s Intervention Leads to Reinstatement of Suspended Students at Wayanad Pookode Veterinary University in Kalpatta

Kalpatta: The suspension of 33 students of Wayanad Pookode Veterinary University in connection with the death of Siddhartha has been cancelled. The dean ordered the reinstatement of their suspension. The action follows the intervention of the Governor who is also the Chancellor. Students have to face suspension again for seven working days from tomorrow. They have also been asked to vacate the hostel.

After Siddharth’s death, 33 students were suspended for a week. 31 of them will be first year students and two senior students. After the expiry of the period of action, the suspension VC was withdrawn after considering the appeal given by them.

However, Governor Arif Muhammad Khan, who is also the chancellor, suggested canceling the process of taking back the students by VC. The governor had also asked for a report on the withdrawal of the suspension.

After withdrawing the suspension, Veterinary University Vice Chancellor Dr. P.C. Saseendran resigned. He submitted his resignation letter to the governor yesterday. The explanation is that the resignation is due to personal reasons. Saseendran informed that the suspension of the main accused has not been lifted in connection with the incident of beating up Siddharth. The VC informed that the punishment of only 33 students who filed an appeal showing that they were not guilty was cancelled.
