English Premier League club Leeds United have found a successor for Jesse Marsch and signed Javi Gracia as their new head coach.
English Premier League club Leeds United have found a successor for Jesse Marsch and signed Javi Gracia as their new head coach.
The Spaniard has been given a “flexible” contract with the relegation-threatened club, Leeds announced on Tuesday. If possible, Gracia (52) should look after the team in the Premier League game against FC Southampton on Saturday, but this depends on the timely issue of the work permit.
The American Marsch (49), previously a coach at RB Leipzig, was released in Leeds a good two weeks ago. The club is penultimate on a direct relegation zone.
After his career as a professional, Gracia had coached various clubs in his native Spain, and he had also worked in England: in 2018 he saved Watford FC from relegation from the Premier League and a year later led them to the final of the national FA cups
Gracia then coached FC Valencia and al-Sadd in Qatar.
