Graphics card prices have dropped 50% since January

After the collapse of the Luna cryptocurrency and the UST stablecoin, the cryptocurrency market is in free fall. Now prices are holding a psychological mark in the region of $20,000 for Bitcoin and $1,100-1,200 for ETH, but on January 1, the leading cryptocurrency was worth around $48,000.

All this “sale” led not only to a drop in the value of altcoins, problems in various financial firms and funds, but also to a decrease in the cost of video cards. Tom’s Hardware reported that GPU prices have fallen 57% since January and 14% in June.

All this is due to the fall in the profitability of mining – now its profitability is close to zero. Because of this, many “miners” began to sell video cards on secondary sites, and demand from retailers has significantly decreased. For example, on eBay, the RTX 3090 and 3070 are already cheaper than the recommended price, although in January the RTX 3090 was twice as expensive there.

Nevertheless, in stores, many video cards are still more expensive than the recommended prices, but they are almost back to them.

In Russia, the situation is somewhat worse, but with new deliveries of video cards, the overall prices for them are also falling. RTX 3060 Ti can already be found for a little more than 50 thousand rubles. Yes, with the current exchange rate it is very expensive in dollars, but a good historical price in rubles.

If the downward trend of cryptocurrencies continues, then the prices of video cards will have to fall further.
