As real estate transactions continued to decline, the size of the tax revenue ‘punk’ expanded more than last month.
The Ministry of Strategy and Finance announced today (31st) the status of national tax revenue for June with these contents.
National tax revenue from January to June of this year was 178.5 trillion won, which was 39.7 trillion won or 18.2% less than the same period last year.
In June, as national tax revenue decreased from a year ago, the decline in tax revenue from January to June expanded more than the cumulative decrease of 36.4 trillion won through May.
National tax revenue in June was 18.4 trillion won, down 3.3 trillion won from a year ago.
The progress rate against the national tax revenue budget in June was only 44.6%.
This is the lowest level since 2000, far below the 55.1% progress rate compared to last June’s performance and 53.2%, the average progress rate over the last five years.
Even if taxes are collected at the same level as last year for the remainder of this year, this year’s tax revenue is 44.4 trillion won short of the tax revenue budget of 400.5 trillion won.
The government will re-estimate this year’s tax revenue and announce it in late August or early September.
