The days go by and look the same, but the world of video games doesn’t stop turning! Here is a recap of the five JV news for the day of October 25, 2023.

Growth of 40 to 50% for Microsoft

Since January 2022, the world of video games has been punctuated by the soap opera of the acquisition of Activision-Blizzard-King by Microsoft. The takeover, historic for the sector with a deal worth $68.4 billion, is now on the verge of being completed: since Friday October 13, no regulatory body has opposed the firm’s initiative of Redmond. Next quarter, the latter’s gaming sector should naturally expect colossal growth:

Microsoft games growth forecast for next quarter with addition of Activision Blizzard

– Gaming revenue – Growth of around 40%. – Content and services – 50% growth. A spectacular leap. This will be a unique event since it’s the first quarter with them, but it’s crazy to see.

The laurels yes, but not for right away for Lords of the Fallen

Before The Last Faith which seems to mix the Castlevania saga with From Software’s Bloodborne, it was Lords of the Fallen released in October which was able to seduce Souls-like fans. Despite several reviews highlighting the poor optimization of the game on PC and consoles, a million copies were still sold by Hexworks and CGI Games. However, the teams do not seem to be resting on their laurels. Saul Gascon, the studio’s boss, explains that the developers are sweating blood and water to make corrections to the title; that a roadmap should arrive soon… perhaps indicating the arrival of two expansions, the latter still being rumors.

Another punch for Smash Bros players

Definitely, Super Smash Bros. looks like Nintendo’s favorite punching bag. Today, however, it is the players who are still stunned by the radical decision of Big N. Yet very popular on the high-level competition scene, the series pits cult characters from the world of franchises against each other. the Kyoto company refuses any exploitation of its games in this area. NOTintendo has released a press release putting in place several restrictions regarding the organization of tournaments on games like Super Smash Bros. Melee or Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Among the rules, there is the impossibility of having sponsors or of having more than 200 participants. Commercial tournaments can be organized, with Nintendo’s agreement required.

Star Citizen is attracting more and more players

Star Citizen is one of the longest-in-development video games. Announced at the end of 2012, this science fiction title seems to have moved up a gear. This is evidenced by the two big videos published last weekend during CitizenCon, a conference dedicated to gaming from Cloud Imperium Games (CIG). One of them illustrates Squadrons 42, the title’s single-player campaign lasting around twenty minutes. It is mainly to highlight the Star Engine, the game’s engine, which is about to receive massive modifications… attracting a whole new audience.

Diablo 4: the secret level gets closer to players

This is one of Blizzard’s nods since Diablo 2 in 2000: the hidden cattle level. A mysterious stage which started from a rumor from the first episode released in 96/97: a portal leading to a level exclusively composed of cows would be in the title. In Diablo 2, precise manipulation leads to this location. It was also reintroduced in Diablo 3 ten years later and with the release of Diablo 4 last June, players are still searching for it. Recently, content creator Grampa Joe recounted the stages of his adventure to discover the mysterious level. The players are getting closer!
