The Gurten festival in Bern started on Wednesday under the best possible weather conditions. By Saturday, 20,000 visitors are expected every day on the hill overlooking the federal capital.
Headlining acts include Berlin reggae and dancehall band Seeed, British electronic duo The Chemical Brothers, soul singer Erykah Badu, hip-hop artists Black Eyed Peas and rapper Megan Thee Stallion. The last three artists come from the United States.
Many Bernese musicians will play at home on the Gurten, including Sirens of Lesbos, Jeans for Jesus and Steff la Cheffe.
The weather promises to be favourable, with temperatures around 30 degrees, pleasantly warm nights, and no rain on the horizon. The organizers reminded festival-goers that it was important to drink non-alcoholic drinks or water regularly to avoid dehydration with the predicted heat wave. Free water points are available.
In 2020, the festival had to be canceled due to the coronavirus. The tickets sold were then refunded. In 2021, no festival had been planned.
