The intense wind alert was fulfilled from early Saturday morning until late afternoon in Cutral Co and Plaza Huincul. The gusts maximums reached 110 kilometers at noon. This caused the blasting of sheets on roofs of some homes; the cut in energy service in several neighborhoods and the fall of trees.

The wind began to gain strength as the morning progressed. Around 10 o’clock, the power outage was recorded and the Copelco cooperative reported that without information from EPEN about the reason, the failure was sought. In this case, seven neighborhoods of Cutral Co. were without power. Meanwhile, in Plaza Huincul, North and part of Central were affected, due to problems with a medium voltage line.

However, around 17, it was indicated that EPEN had problems with “the Plaza Huincul transformer station” Therefore, it was taken out of service and other sectors suffered a power outage.

The highest speed recorded by the meteorological observatory staff was at 12 o’clock and was located at l110 kilometers per hour, with a constant speed of 100 kilometers. At that time, visibility was reduced to 100 meters due to the presence of suspended dust.

Around 5 p.m., the constant speed was 75 kilometers.

The volunteer firefighters from both barracks worked overtime to respond to the requests. Although it was clarified that due to the conditions they were not in a position to repair the roofs. On the other hand, it is necessary to secure the sheets or trees, in those cases where there was a risk of life for the inhabitants of the damaged house.

The trees that were uprooted were the oldest and, in some cases, looked dry.

The Copelco cooperative crew worked in those cases in which trees or branches endangered the power lines. Likewise, the municipal personnel from the Public Services and Civil Defense areas of the two cities were on permanent guard.
