Haas F1 team cancels contract negotiations with Mick Schumacher during summer vacation[F1-Gate.com]

Haas F1 team has canceled all contract negotiations with Mick Schumacher during the August summer break, reports Germany’s RTL and ntv.

Haas F1 team boss Guenther Stahner has said the summer break is the right time to consider the driver line-up for 2023, with Kevin Magnussen already under contract.

However, according to German reports, the Haas F1 team has now “suspended contract negotiations” for Michael Schumacher’s 23-year-old son.

The reason for this is speculated that F1’s ‘silly season’ move has reduced Mick Schumacher’s options. RTL reported.

“This means Haas can rely on the time factor. Now the team fully understands that the German is the only way to secure a place in F1.”

Mick Schumacher’s situation has deteriorated recently after Mattia Binotto complained about the German and said he was “no longer sure” about his position in Ferrari’s driver academy.

Mick Schumacher’s last option is to leave Ferrari and join another F1 development programme, such as Mercedes or Red Bull.

“He has improved compared to last year,” Red Bull F1 motorsport adviser Helmut Marko told Osterreich.

“But he was always in the Ferrari programme, so I never put him on the radar.”
