The Guinness World Records book has just recognized a rare and extraordinary event. Indeed, the nine children born from a single pregnancy, five girls and four boys, set a new record for surviving nonuplets, a phenomenon never before recorded.

On May 4, 2021, Halima Cissé, a young 25-year-old Malian mother, gave birth to these multiple babies in Morocco with the support of her government. At only 30 weeks of gestation, the babies, named Adama, Oumou, Hawa, Kadidia, Fatouma, Oumar, Elhadji, Bah and Mohammed VI, weighed between 500 grams and 1 kilogram.

This impressive family recently made an international splash by appearing on the Italian show “Lo Show dei Record”. They succeed Nadya Suleman, the “Octomom”, who established the previous record in 2009 with the birth of eight children in California.

Halima Cissé’s nonuplets are doing well and experiencing rapid growth, arousing the world’s amazement at this medical and human feat.
