The head of the Russian Wagner mercenary group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, has called for a coup in his country. Prigozhin called on the citizens of Russia on Friday to join his “25,000” fighters to “put an end to the chaos”. At the same time, he emphasized that this was not a military coup, but a “march for justice”. He previously accused the Russian army of killing a “very large” number of Wagner mercenaries.
Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu had Wagner camps in the rear attacked with artillery, helicopters and rockets, Prigozhin said in a voice message distributed by his press service on Telegram on Friday. His 25,000 men will now explain why such arbitrariness prevails in the country. “Whoever tries to resist us will be seen as a threat and killed immediately,” Prigozhin threatened. According to him, Shoigu came to Rostov-on-Don, a city of over a million people near the Ukrainian border, to direct the operation to destroy Wagner. “At 9:00 p.m. he fled – cowardly as a woman – so as not to explain why he had taken off helicopters and had rocket attacks carried out to kill our boys. This beast will be stopped,” said Prigozhin.

Shoigu ordered the bodies of 2,000 Wagner fighters to be hidden in a morgue, Prigozhin said. “We were ready to make concessions to the Defense Ministry to give up our weapons,” Prigozhin said. Nevertheless, “they carried out rocket attacks on our rear camps”. The Wagner boss vowed to “respond” to the attacks and “stop” the Russian military leadership. The denial from Moscow came immediately. Defense Minister Shoigu denied attacks on the Wagner mercenaries.
The Kremlin said on Friday evening that ruler Vladimir Putin had been “informed about all events surrounding Prigozhin.” The Interfax news agency reported that the necessary measures would be taken.
