Hand in hand with a paralyzed market, automobile financing fell 19% in December

In a paralyzed automotive market, During December, some 11,351 vehicles were financed in Argentina. 48% of them were new vehicles and the remaining 62% were transfers of used ones, reported the Association of Automotive Dealers of the Argentine Republic (ACARA).

After the December devaluation and the consequent rearrangement of prices in the 0Km, the impact on used cars and the uncertainty with the future of the luxury tax on automobiles, December was a lean month in the sector.

In comparison with the same month in 2023, The drop in financing is 19%: there were 13,457 vehicles in December 2022 against 11,351, in the same year of 2023.

«The end of the year and the beginning of 2024 are marked by a quasi-stoppage of operations with new vehicles. The enormous uncertainty with which we have spent these months and the jump in prices that was registered in both months, is making it practically patents are reduced by half compared to January 2022″, They explained from ACARA.

Thus, the year 2023 closed with 240,041 registrations of total garments (+2.9% y/y), 145,989 for 0km vehicles (-1.1%) and 94,052 for used vehicles (+9.8%).

December is already a seasonally month with fewer operations per year, and registered 50% fewer operations than in November in the 0Km clothing category. 5,454 vehicles were financed which, in the comparison against December 2022, also shows a drop of 19%.

In the case of financing used vehicles, 5,897 items were registered last month, which represents a decrease of 20% compared to November. Furthermore, this figure is 12.2% lower than the 6,716 that had been registered in December 2022. In the cumulative total of the year, the 94,052 garments registered are 9.8% more than in 2022.
